“The National Center for Homeless Education released a report several days ago that found that more than 1.5 million public school students experienced homelessness in the 2017-18 school year, the highest number in more than a dozen years. This was a 137 percent increase in the number of students who reported staying in “unsheltered” places, such as abandoned buildings and cars.”
